This was my lucky day. I had to plan my stay in Kawaguchi 2 months in advance and gambled on April 24th. On arrival the night before the weather was terrible, but early in the morning next day, Mnt Fuji started to emerge from the haze so I hurried to the lake. In a moment many more Japanese photographers assembled there and we all felt very lucky to be in the right place at the right time to capture this most iconic image of Japan.See more of my albums at www.picasaweb.google.com/wickvanrij

The Third Sunset: Some nights it seems like there are three main sunsets: 1. When the sun sets behind the horizon; 2. When the first round of cloud glow kicks off after the sun sets behind the horizon; and, 3. Once in awhile a second round of glow comes to the clouds just as blue hour is kicking off. Last night was just such a night here in Fort Collins, yee-haw!
